Also known as the “Meridian Island”, with only 268 square kilometers, El Hierro is home to astonishingly beautiful natural landscapes and a large part of the main land and marine ecosystems found in the Canary Islands, with the exception of the high mountain scrubland. The area of the reserve also includes a valuable stretch of marine area that is part of the “Mar de las Calmas”.
