This project sees the restoration of an entire river system from catchment to coast – which is largely located on private land – where limited or no systematic alien eradication programmes have been implemented before. The project involves clearing of invasive alien species plants, rehabilitation of disturbed Palmiet wetlands, improving wetland functioning in the river system, training and employment in ecosystem restoration of currently unemployed people, and progrees towards a comprehensive Ecological Reserve determination of the Goukou River System.
