Promotion of alternative energy sources in Siberut BR

The relative isolation of the island of Siberut involves high energy expenditure. Therefore, the introduction of alternative energies of own production is the solution to not depend economically on the continent, as well as to contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint on the island. With the support of the Siberut Conservation Program, a town to the north of Siberut has implemented solar energy and produces enough power for about 120 homes. Another village has installed a biogas plant, with the aim of reducing dependence on wood for fuel and for cooking. Another advantage of this system is its additional use as a natural fertilizer.
